List of Kapha Pacifying Dairy

Goat’s milk, Rice milk, Almond milk, and Oat milk can be supportive for Kapha dosha types. However, because dairy products tend to be heavy and can increase mucus production, it would be best to try to minimize dairy products when Kapha is elevated.

Dairy to Add or Include

  • Buttermilk
  • Cottage Cheese (ideally from skim goat’s milk)
  • Ghee
  • Goat’s Cheese (unsalted, not aged)
  • Goat’s Milk (skim)
  • Yogurt (fresh and diluted)

Dairy to Limit or Avoid

  • Butter
  • Most Cheese
  • Cow’s Milk
  • Frozen Yogurt
  • Ice Cream
  • Sour Cream
  • Yogurt (store-bought)
As a rule, dairy milk (cow’s milk, goat’s milk, sheep’s milk, etc.) should be taken at least one hour before or after any other food.
